Blind Blake Trio

We were recently visiting with a close friend who has a home in Naples, Florida.  I noticed on the wall in one of the bathrooms a framed grouping of old Nassau post cards. The cards are colourized black & white photos.  One of the postcards that especially caught my eye was of “The Blind Blake Trio”. I remember this group well. Blind Blake is the young man in the lower right of the painting. He was an icon and ambassador of Bahamian calypso music. The original photo was taken in 1942 and, although it is not clear, it appears to have been taken on Woodes Rogers Walk in the vicinity of the old fish market on the Nassau harbourfront. You can just barely make out the masts of the smack boats in the background. I got permission to take a photo of the postcard and this is my interpretation of it.  I have also included images showing how this painting evolved.
